Chief Walter Braun

Walter Braun is the chief of police at Santa Fe ISD. He is a 30 year veteran of law enforcement, with previous service with the Galveston County Sheriff's Office and the City of Galveston Police Department, from which he retired after 20 years of service with the rank of Captain. Chief Braun holds a Master of Science Degree in Strategic Leadership, Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts, Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice, and an Associate of Arts.

Chief Braun is a graduate of the 223rd Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico Virginia, the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas at Sam Houston State University, and the Galveston County Sheriff’s Academy. Chief Braun holds a Master Peace Officer and Instructor License from TCOLE, as well as Paramedic licensure with the Texas Department of Health Services. Chief Braun also served in the U.S. Army, retiring from the Texas Army National Guard after 21 years of service.
